Emotional Intelligence – Not a Struggle between the Heart and Head

Emotional Intelligence – Not a Struggle between the Heart and Head

EQ is Fusion

“Just as your car runs more smoothly and requires less energy to go faster and farther when the wheels are in perfect alignment, you perform better when your thoughts, feelings, emotions, goals, and values are in balance.” Brian Tracy

A very insightful former colleague and friend sent me this quote today. I really enjoyed it and was amazed at how closely aligned it is to the teachings of emotional intelligence as we look at a simplified definition of Emotional intelligence as being, the ability to integrate thinking and feeling to make optimal decisions.

Contrary to what some people think that it is not a struggle between heart and head, but rather using both to make the best possible decisions in line with your personal values.

Josh Freedman, CEO of Six Seconds refers to this as “EQ is fusion”, as we are most powerful when emotion and thought work together.

Makes sense doesn’t it!?
